City Summer Planning

Good morning! Let’s coffee chat on my City Summer Planning. The boys finish school this week. I am so excited to finally bring them home to Everett! We moved in last month, but they’ve only had the opportunity to spend the night here a few times. I have been making the nearly two-hour drive through Seattle traffic for school drop off for the last few weeks. I am very excited to knock that off the repertoire.

For summer, I will have the boys Sunday evening through Friday evening each week. Weekends will be open for adult adventures and photographing weddings and portraits for The Studio! Figuring out a home schedule for all the other days where I will be working from home, with the boys, is on my mind today and tomorrow as I prepare for the new flow of things.

In the past, I’d hire childcare to focus on blogging, editing, quoting, 30 day priors, and general emails. But now, they’re getting older to where they’re quite self-sufficient for few hour blocks. Especially, when they know their time at home is limited by other activities. I believe I can find a flow that suits us and allows focused time to work each day without the added expense while also trying to support a household for the first time. (No child support yet. Just me and a dream.)

We live within walking distance of so many fun activities! Last weekend, we took a stroll down to the co-op to pick out fresh produce for the day. Leo was not feeling well so we made the trip short but saw several side quests along the way to hit another time. I am going to look into a family pass for the children’s museum. Mostly, for the rooftop playground that is SO FUN! Perhaps, they are running some summer camps. That would certainly help my work time! I think we are within walking distance of the sound. Might have to find a wagon or pull Leo on roller-skates to convince him of that, though. Mostly, I’m excited for walks to the grocery store, bakeries, restaurants, coffee shops, and antique shops. I think they will LOVE antiquing, and it will be fun to pick little things for the apartment with them.

Part of why I picked Everett is because of how small business friendly it is. It’s a big downtown vibe with nothing but small businesses all around me. I am so happy places like this still exist post-covid. I am sure their mayor and all the owners had a hay day keeping all these doors open! Maybe one day, I’ll have doors to keep open down here, too.

Anywho. Just 1-2 more times to make that wretched drive through Seattle on a weekday morning. That’s my little coffee morning catch up for you! Can’t wait to share more wedding and portrait work this week! I’m working on the cutest cozy couples session and our editor is plugging away at another wedding. Speaking of, peep my cute girlfriend on her first photography lesson learning to second shoot for The Studio!

Have a beautiful Monday!
