Discovery Park Engagement Photos | Piper & Josh

Jul

20

This was my third round of engagement portraits at Discovery Park and it never fails to disappoint! I hope you all cozy into this location for 2018 because I’m pretty obsessed!

When Piper and Josh booked me for their wedding they were nowhere to be seen! Piper messaged me from Arizona letting me know she’d like me to meet with her Mom in Tacoma and that she trusted her mom’s instinct. I met with Piper’s parents, Jeanice and Sam, to get to know a bit about this amazing couple. It was nice having this unique opportunity to meet with Piper’s family AND Piper and Josh before the wedding!

Both Piper and Josh are students in Arizona and are planning their wedding here in Washington. Piper is finally home for the summer and Josh is flying in as often as he is able! We finally got to coordinate this engagement session to get to know each other and I’m so happy we did! They both had engagement portraits taken shortly after their engagement before deciding on a wedding photographer. I ALWAYS encourage my couples to meet me for engagement portraits no matter where they are in the wedding planning process. This allows for them to get to know me, my posing/shooting style, and get a feel for what their wedding portraits will look like before they get them. I love keeping surprises to a minimum unless they include pretty boxes in the mail! Having all of my couples do engagement portraits with me (even if it’s just a couple weeks before the wedding!) really helps wedding day portraits go much more smoothly as my couple feels confident and familiar with everything I lead them to do. It’s truly night and day worth the time!

Josh is studying to become a youth minister and Piper is working towards pediatric medicine (physical therapy maybe!). They are so cozy and sweet. I have seen a sneak peek of Piper’s dress and I CAN NOT WAIT to see it in person next month! Piper’s childhood bible teacher will be officiating. I love when the celebrant knows my couple! It always makes for plenty of laughs and the sweetest smiles in reminiscing during the ceremony. I can’t wait to photograph their traditional chapel ceremony!

Congratulations to Piper and Josh! Your wedding day will be amazing, beautiful, and so full of love because of how much everyone can see you care for each other. ♥

See another session at this location!

They’re all taking great care of me, too! Working my booty offf. Trying to eat healthy and navigate adulting more […]

The in between

Life has been very romantic lately. Unknown and confusing and both flighty and grounded all at once. I remember being 14 and seeing my entire life by your side. Life is wild. I remember a water bottle and abandoned bleachers. I remember axe body spray and the way I had never been kissed. I know […]

Nirvana & I think of you

I hope you know better than to think I’d want to be anywhere but here right now. It was true on NYE and it’s true right now in my car outside the café. This may have felt seamless. Too seamless. Happenstance. But I’m here on purpose, now. I see your soft heart and I see […]

I hope you know better

You’ll walk through a glittering white veil, uncharacteristically soft compared to what you’ll find behind it. It has no need to keep you out. You quickly realize it’s the aura within that turns most around. The texture disorients. I’ll already be inside. What do you see? Upon first impression, you’re in a desert. Interesting considering […]
