Ice Cream Social Tacoma

Aug

31

Here is part two from my three month long contract with Ice Cream Social Tacoma as their primary commercial photographer! You can check out Part One Here.

One thing I really enjoyed about photographing the monthly flavors was predicting which set would be the most fun to stage and document. Then, being surprised when it was ALWAYS a different flavor that turned out to be my favorite. I imagine, with time, I would predict this more easily.

For this set, I thought mojito would be my favorite. Once I got shooting with the different ingredients, I couldn’t get over the texture contrast of the banana walnut! I shot the heck out of that set and enjoyed every second.

A couple days before a new shoot, the owners of Ice Cream Social would send me the upcoming flavors to be photographed. The morning of the shoot, I would head to the grocery store to pick up complimenting ingredients to the flavor list. Example: “Strawberry sorbet” so I’d pick up fresh strawberries.

I wanted the ingredients to tell the story of the ice cream flavor being documented. This way, viewers could quickly see a flavor on Instagram or Ice Cream Social’s website without reading a thing.

This little shopping trip before each session was so fun visualizing each set.

Enjoy!
